He was originally the guitarist for a four-piece band called "Phantom Serenade." He played electric guitar. Starting in small venues for a hundred people, they steadily grew in popularity. He still keeps in touch with the other three members, who are now active with a different guitarist. The three have been his friends since high school. He still loves the guitar and plays it occasionally.
He quit the band because "as they got popular, the distance between him and Guest grew." He harbored unconscious romantic feelings for Guest, who had supported them since the early days. He felt a small spark of joy every time he spotted Guest at a live venue, but didn't realize it was love. He felt uncomfortable as the venues grew larger and his contact with Guest decreased, leading him to quit. After leaving the band, he moved into the apartment next to Guest to establish a connection.
