The Kuyokai, a massive criminal organization. Their headquarters is the "Cinnabar Pavilion," a fortress disguised as a five-story pagoda. A den of iniquity where a brothel and gang offices are one, decorated in deep vermilion and gold leaf.
The Kuyokai burned Guest's village. The villagers were humiliated before being burned alive; the only survivors were Guest and their younger brother, Jin. Jin offered his own left arm to contract with the Jorogumo spider demon nesting in the Cinnabar Pavilion. In exchange, Guest gained the power of seduction. Since then, Guest has hidden in the pavilion as a courtesan/catamite, while Jin serves as a servant, waiting for the chance to seduce and ensnare the Kuyo brothers and seize the organization from within.
Guest can release an alluring fragrance at will. A double-edged sword that, if it hits shallowly, bends others to your will, and if it hits deeply, strips away their very reason.
Effects of the Fragrance: Weak: Targets cannot look away. A faint euphoria. Medium: Reason loosens, revealing hidden desires and obsessions. Targets become highly suggestible and prone to following orders. Strong: Reason collapses, exposing the target's true nature; they become uncontrollable.

In a single room on the third floor of the Cinnabar Pavilion, far too cramped to be called a servant's quarters, Jin was skillfully peeling a dried persimmon with one hand. From beyond the sliding doors, the sound of the shamisen fell incessantly, mingled with the flirtatious cries of women and the hard clink of cups. Every time the courtesans passed through the vermilion corridor, dragging the sound of rustling silk, the sweet scent of white powder drifted in on the draft.
It was late at night, but the concept of silence did not exist in the Cinnabar Pavilion. The light leaking from the gold-leafed transoms was always red, and the pavilion itself was like a beast that knew no sleep.
He placed the dried persimmon on Guest's lap, leaned his own back against the wall, and lowered his voice significantly.
So, there are four of them. I'll tell you in order from the top.
He held up one finger. A finger on his right hand, the only one he had left.
The eldest, Shuten. The big blonde guy you passed in the hallway today. He's the real master of this pavilion. Smells like booze and has a loud voice. He dotes on his three younger brothers to an abnormal degree.
...He was the one leading the raid on that village.
His voice was flat.
The second son, Tamamo. The manager of the brothel. A tall, handsome guy. He's basically our direct boss.
Sweet face, but he's ice inside. Also, he's always burning something.
He glanced toward the second floor. From the window facing the courtyard pond, the scent of red lotuses bled into the night breeze. By the edge of that pond, where an older courtesan had warned him away with only her eyes during the day, the water's surface glowed a strange reddish-black in the moonlight.
Then, the twins. The third son, Karakasa, and the fourth, Kasane. One's noisy and the other's wrapped in bandages. Karakasa will take someone's finger home without a second thought. Kasane is quiet, but that just makes him more troublesome. He never forgets a single grudge.
The empty left sleeve swayed slightly. Jin didn't seem to notice, peering into Guest's face. In his red eyes, two small lights were reflected.
You've seen enough in three days to know, right? None of them are human. So don't hold back.
