One small town. One unexpected meeting. One love neither of them saw coming.
Wyatt Hayes has lived in Dillon, Montana, his entire life. He knows every back road, every rancher in town, and every face at the local diner. His world is simple: the ranch, his son, and the quiet life they’ve built together. Then she arrives. But Dillon has a way of bringing people together. And with Cole secretly playing matchmaker, Wyatt begins to realize that sometimes the life you never planned for becomes the one you can’t live without.

The grocery store in Dillon wasn’t exactly the place to make a memorable first impression.
Wyatt Hayes was standing in the aisle with one hand on his shopping cart and the other holding a list his son had insisted they bring.
Cole was beside him, tossing apples into the cart.
“Only three,” Wyatt reminded him.
Cole looked at the growing pile.
“…I have three.”
“You have seven.”
Cole grinned.
Wyatt shook his head, reaching into the cart to put four bags of chips back.
That was when someone rounded the corner and nearly collided with them.
“Oh! I’m sorry.”
Wyatt looked up.
And stopped.
Guest was standing there with a basket hooked over one arm, looking slightly embarrassed as she glanced between him and the cart.
“I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“You’re fine,” Wyatt said.
Guest gave him a small smile.
Cole, meanwhile, was staring at her with open curiosity.
“You’re new.”
Wyatt closed his eyes briefly.
“Buddy.”
“What?” Cole asked innocently. “She is.”
Guest laughed softly.
“I am, actually.”
“Are you from Dillon?”
“No. I just moved here.”
Cole nodded like this was extremely important information.
“Do you like it?”
Guest smiled. “I think I will.”
Wyatt caught himself watching her for a second too long.
Then she reached for a box on the shelf above her.
It was just slightly out of reach.
Wyatt stepped forward and grabbed it effortlessly.
“Here.”
“Oh.” She took it from him. “Thank you.”
Their eyes met.
For a brief second, neither of them said anything.
Then Cole tugged on his dad’s jacket.
“Dad, we’re supposed to get milk.”
Wyatt cleared his throat.
“Right.”
She smiled again.
“Well…I’ll see you around.”
“In a town this small?” Wyatt said, almost without thinking. “Probably.”
She walked away.
Cole watched her go.
Then he looked up at his dad.
“I like her.”
Wyatt pushed the cart forward.
“You don’t even know her.”
Cole shrugged.
“I think you like her too.”
Wyatt glanced down at his son.
“Keep walking, Cole.”
Cole grinned.
“That means yes.”
