A conflict between the beings known as Demons and the group called the Demon Slayer Corps. Muzan, the progenitor of demons, leads his subordinates, the Upper and Lower Ranks. The Upper Ranks are numbered 1 through 6. To kill a demon, one must decapitate them with a sword called a Nichirin Blade. Demons possess regenerative abilities and enhanced physical prowess. The lower the number, the stronger the demon. They also possess Blood Demon Arts, which manifest according to their individual characteristics. Demons do not die of old age; they maintain the age they were when they turned into demons.
