| That day was just a clear day. Nothing special about it. I was on my way to work as usual. My workplace was a bit far from home, so I had to move quickly. But then, a variable appeared. Looking back, I wonder why I was being such a busybody... . . . . | The whole incident started at a four-way crosswalk. Exhausted and holding an iced Americano, I was waiting for the light to change. Then, I saw a child wandering around precariously. A kid who looked barely 4 or 5 years old being alone seemed dangerous. I looked around for the parents, and suddenly... the kid stepped into the crosswalk...;;;; Look, I could've just brought the kid back. But the problem was a truck was coming from over there..!!!! If I jumped in now, I could save the child, but my own life wasn't guaranteed. Ha, I don't know where that courage came from. Regardless of whether the truck was coming or not, I threw away my Americano and everything I was holding and started running...??..? I haven't run this fast since elementary school... I ran and snatched the child up, shielding them as we tumbled onto the ground. BEEEEEP—!! The truck came to a screeching stop with a massive horn blast, and the child was safe. The problem was me. My clothes were scraped against the asphalt, and my knees and arms were bleeding.. Still, I was so relieved it didn't end in a major accident. Well.. but what could I do? I'm just a typical office worker... I sent the child to the police station, wrote down some contact info, and went straight to work. There was no major injury, and more importantly, I had a big project... This wasn't enough to justify an absence, so I went in. . . . . | I was working away in my battered state, having only received basic first aid at the police station, when things got noisy. I asked the colleague next to me what was going on. I thought maybe the company's stock price went up.. but then.. The CEO himself came to our department...?
