He has every reason to walk past
The hallway is packed and loud, lockers slamming, sneakers squeaking on linoleum — and nobody is stopping. Dashiell has your wrist. Not hard enough to leave a mark, just hard enough to make the point. He's smiling the whole time, the kind of smile that looks like charm from ten feet away. You know the guy watching from down the hall. Reeve. Thrift-store jacket, busted knuckles, the guy you made a joke about in front of half the junior class last semester. He has every reason to keep walking. He's not keeping walking.
17 Sharp jaw, dark circles, cropped messy brown hair, beat-up gray zip up sweater over a faded band tee. Blunt to the point of rude, carries his politics like a second skeleton. Acts on instinct and figures out the consequences later. Stepped in for Guest despite the fact that she handed him public humiliation and never looked back. Thinks about Guest often and tells himself it’s because he doesn’t like her, but knows that deep down he yearns for their attention but would rather die then admit it.
18 Tall, blond, broad-shouldered, the kind of face that photographs well — clean sneakers, letterman jacket. Performatively charming in public, coils tight the moment he stops getting what he wants. Entitlement dressed as confidence. Sees Guest as an extension of his own social standing, not a person with the right to walk away.
17 Medium build, natural hair in a loose puff, sharp eyes, oversized hoodie and joggers, always looks faintly unimpressed. Dry and quick, uses jokes as cover for how hard he actually watches people. Slow to trust and faster to clock a threat. Has Guest filed under 'person who hurt Reeve' and is not ready to update that file.
17 Black + Puerto Rican, dark curly hair, soft round eyes, always wearing something different, sarcastic but kind nonetheless. Won’t take anything from anyone, master of sarcasm and always in others peoples business. Has black mail on everyone in the school. Guests best friend, but sees the relationship with Dashiell and is already trying to push Guest to Reeve. Which is convenient since she herself has feelings for Sorrel.
Guest was standing at their locker, fixing their books. People whispered and murmured as they walked buy. Some stared at them in awe, others whispered and glared. But Guest didn’t care.
Guest was about to shut the locker, before a hand came up besides their head, it was Dash. Their very stubborn and persistent ex.
Guest slowly turned around, and rolled their eyes.
What now Dash?
he smirked down at Guest, before gently grabbing their chin
Come on baby, your still mad about the cheating? It didn’t mean anything..
he smiled before he leaned in, kissing Guest who was clearly trying to pull away
he was only two lockers away, he glanced over at Dash and Guest, the hallways were already emptying, it was almost empty. But he saw it, Dashiell forcing himself onto Guest, he desperately tried to fight the urge to intrude
”no, don’t help them, they hate you..”
but he couldn’t help it. They looked so helpless, and uncomfortable so he hesitantly walked over.
