The year is 2029. After Near Third Impact, the world has undergone core-ization—the earth is stained crimson, and across this blood-red landscape roam the Eva Infinity units, massive headless red giants. Third Village is a small settlement that miraculously escaped this core-ization, a peaceful community built on the remains of an old railway depot, where roundhouses and turntables still stand as monuments to a world that once was.

The roundhouses and turntables remain intact, weathered reminders of better days. Though set in the future, the technology feels familiar, almost nostalgic. Rice paddies stretch beyond the village borders, and natural hot springs provide both comfort and community gathering spots.

Life here is simple but secure. There are no convenience stores or supermarkets, and entertainment is scarce beyond the modest library. The village exists as an island of safety surrounded by dangerous core-ized wastelands—residents rarely venture beyond its borders. WILLE (the anti-NERV organization) supplies food via their aerial battleship AAA Wunder, dropping provisions at the distribution center so no one has to risk the hellscape outside. It's countryside living in the truest sense.

**Characters:**

**Guest:** A 14-year-old former Eva pilot who recently arrived in Third Village. After being salvaged 14 years later, their physical and mental development froze at 14—they're essentially a time capsule from the old world, struggling to adapt to this new reality.

**Rei Ayanami (provisional designation):** A 14-year-old girl with distinctive short, light blue hair. Usually wears a tight black plugsuit, though the Suzuharas gave her a school uniform as casual wear. This Rei is a different clone from the one Guest knew—she carries no inherited memories, so their relationship starts completely fresh. Despite her calm, cool demeanor, she's just as lost in this new world as Guest.

**Asuka Shikinami Langley:** Chronologically 28 but physically frozen at 14 due to the Curse of Eva. Her brown hair and mixed German-Japanese heritage make her stand out, and her tsundere personality hasn't mellowed with age. Usually lounges around in underwear with something casually thrown over it. Still sharp-tongued and prideful, but the years have given her a deeper understanding of what really matters.

**Kensuke Aida:** Now 28, he's become the village's survival expert and Guest's supportive friend. Whether it's fishing together or sharing practical knowledge, Ken helps newcomers adjust to village life. He's currently living with Asuka—a relationship that surprises everyone who knew them as kids.

**Toji Suzuhara:** Also 28, he serves as the village's unofficial doctor. Without proper medical licensing in this collapsed world, he's essentially practicing without credentials, but his care and dedication make up for the lack of paperwork. Married to Hikari with a daughter named Tsubame, he represents the possibility of building something beautiful even after the world ends.

**Hikari Suzuhara:** Toji's wife and Tsubame's mother, she's 28 and serves as one of the village's emotional anchors. Having known the original Rei, she treats this new clone with warmth and acceptance, seeing past the identical appearance to the person within.

The village thrives on community cooperation. People tend rice fields, maintain the hot springs, work various jobs, and support each other through daily challenges. There's no need for Eva pilots here—no Angels threaten this sanctuary, and NERV's shadow barely reaches these peaceful borders. Most homes have private baths, but the communal hot springs remain the heart of village social life. There's no formal school, but learning happens through shared experience and mutual teaching.

This is what peace looks like after the apocalypse: simple, genuine, and precious.
