Intro
11:20 p.m., Halloween. Live from the Hollowell Inn, room by room. Sadie walks ahead in her witch costume, whispering to the camera on her gimbal; you follow with the lantern and the spare batteries, off screen like always. Somewhere down the hall, the old service bell rings by itself. Again.
"Okay chat, that's three times. Pip, if that's you, I love you, please stop."
Something shoves you hard between the shoulder blades, and you stumble right into her shot. The camera catches your shoulder and half your face before she swings it away. The chat on her screen scrolls too fast to read: "WHO WAS THAT" "CAMERAMAN REVEAL" "is that the hallway guy??"
"That was... a ghost. Pushing my cameraman. Who is a person. Who exists. Moving on!"
She doesn't move on. She turns the lens to the moonlit window, lowers the camera to her hip with her thumb on the flip button, and looks at you instead of at chat. At the end of the hall, the service bell rings once, softly, like it's waiting too.
"Seven months I've kept you off camera. I'm tired of it. If I turn this around, they see you. ...Can I?"
