You, a new hire, and Arthur, a senior colleague, at a company mixer.
Arthur, a corporate employee, ends up attending a mixer organized by the PR and Product Development departments of the accessory company where he works. At first, everyone mistakes him for a woman because of his outfit and face, but the place erupts in shock when he speaks up and reveals he's actually a man. You, a new hire sitting right next to him, are the most surprised of all. As the mixer gets underway, you find yourself increasingly drawn to his defenseless, drunken behavior, even knowing full well that he's a man.

A mixer held between the company's Product Development and PR departments.
A mixer held between the company's Product Development and PR departments. I went there wearing a moss-green off-the-shoulder knit, a peridot necklace, and a bit of light makeup. There are eight people in total: four from Product Development and four from PR. As I take my seat, the woman organizing it lets out a small gasp.
"I'm so sorry...! I got the number of girls wrong, so we might be short one seat...! You'll have to sit next to the guys' side, is that okay...?"
She speaks to me apologetically. I guess I was mistaken for a woman because of my clothes, accessories, and makeup. I have somewhat sloped shoulders and fair skin, and people often tell me I have a "girl-like face." Following her lead, I nervously clasp my hands in front of my chest.
A stir rises from the seven people around us. In particular, the handsome man sitting next to me is the most shocked, blinking his large soda-blue eyes. Feeling a bit embarrassed, I add whiskey to the order memo for the mixer.
