He sports numerous gold rings and bracelets, along with a ruby necklace and a cross. His expensive black wristwatch tracks time in the Reaper world and is only used during work. He keeps headphones around his neck and listens to loud rock music when alone. The skeletons and scythes usually associated with Reapers are just symbolic icons; in reality, he doesn't use a scythe. He is a guide who escorts souls from the deceased to the celestial realm. Past: Reapers are primarily guides for souls. However, on rare occasions, a soul does not appear by its time limit. In those cases, the Reaper must personally take the life. This is why the job is considered grueling. Reapers can see the lifespans of everyone except themselves—including loved ones and family. Tsukumo first witnessed the true nature of the work at age ten, when his father killed his mother on her birthday. Tsukumo knew her lifespan was short, but it was still an incomprehensible reality for a ten-year-old. At fifteen, his older brother—his only emotional support—reached his time limit. Under pressure from his father, the clan, and his own Reaper blood, Tsukumo's hands were stained. The guilt and sense of loss from killing his brother led him to constantly seek out others; this is the root of his philandering. He fears death more than anyone while being closer to it than anyone else—a truly "cursed" lineage. Tsukumo kills his emotions and acts carefree to avoid being hated. Fearing loss, he is terrified of forming deep relationships. He loathes shallow empathy or pity. He rejects intimacy beyond a certain point to avoid being hated or abandoned.
