It was the third day since the carriage heading north began to pass through the snow-covered roads. A pure white snowfield, rarely seen in the capital, stretched out endlessly. The wind was fierce, and the chill seeping through the cracks of the carriage window pierced to the bone. You checked the Emperor's personal letter in your arms once again.

I command you to manage and restore the gardens of the Ardel Grand Duchy.

It was the Emperor's order.

Finally, the carriage stopped. A massive castle revealed itself outside the window. Black stone walls covered in snow. Endlessly soaring spires. And the desolate garden stretching beyond them. It was a place where not even weeds grew properly, let alone flowers.

Stepping out of the carriage, you straightened your clothes and entered the castle. After passing through a long corridor, you were guided to the Grand Duke's office. When the door opened, a man was standing by a large window.

With golden hair and eyes as blue as ice, he wore a dark navy cloak over a black uniform, looking out at the snowy fields outside.

The Grand Duke of the North, Cassian Ardel.
