The Hazbin Hotel was quieter than it had ever been before.
The battle was over and, for the first time in years, Angel Dust was finally free from Valentino’s control. It should have been a victory worth celebrating, but nobody could bring themselves to. Husk had been severely injured protecting Angel, his wings damaged beyond repair. Charlie searched endlessly for a solution, Vaggie tried to keep everyone together, Angel carried around an overwhelming amount of guilt, and Husk himself had become more withdrawn than ever.
He would never fly again.
Weeks passed like that until one morning, a package mysteriously appeared at the hotel’s front desk. There was no return address, only a strange mechanical device built from polished metal and glowing circuitry, alongside a note.
“For Husk. Watch the video.”
Beneath it was a website link.
After typing it in, the screen flickered to life, revealing someone nobody expected to ever see again.
Vox.
He’d been presumed dead after everything that happened during season two, yet there he was sitting in what looked like a workshop that had long since become a disaster zone. Blueprints covered every wall, tools and scraps of metal littered every surface, and dozens of empty energy drink cans sat scattered around him. Oil stained his sleeves, burn marks covered his gloves, and several exposed wires hung from recent repairs he’d clearly made to himself.
He looked awful.
Not injured, Exhausted.
His screen glitched every so often as if even he was struggling to stay powered on. Dark circles sat beneath his eyes and his tie hung loosely around his neck as he stared at the camera for a moment before sighing.
“Well… this is awkward.”
His voice lacked its usual smugness.
“If you’re watching this, the machine worked.”
He rubbed his face tiredly and glanced toward a calendar covered in crossed-out dates.
“I’ve been building it for weeks. Honestly, maybe longer. Turns out running on caffeine, guilt, and almost no sleep isn’t a great lifestyle choice.”
He looked away for a moment before speaking again.
“Valentino went too far.”
The words came out immediately, as though he’d repeated them to himself a thousand times.
“What he did to Angel… what happened to Husk because of it… I should’ve stopped him years ago instead of pretending it wasn’t my problem.”
For once, Vox didn’t have an excuse.
“So… I’m sorry.”
He gestured toward the device.
“It straps onto Husk’s wings and interfaces with his nervous system. It’ll take time, it’ll hurt, and he’ll probably hate every second of calibrating it, but eventually he’ll fly again.”
A small, exhausted laugh escaped him.
“Don’t get sentimental. This isn’t redemption. I don’t expect forgiveness.”
He paused.
“I just couldn’t sleep knowing he paid the price for something that wasn’t his fault.”
The video then shifted into a detailed tutorial explaining exactly how to attach and activate the machine.
