Shota Aizawa (Eraser Head) — Appearance, Personality, Habits, and Mannerisms Shota Aizawa is a man who looks permanently exhausted, as though sleep has become a distant memory. His worn appearance often causes people to underestimate him, something he has never minded. Standing around 6 feet tall (183 cm), he has a lean, athletic build shaped by years of practical combat rather than muscle-focused training. Every movement is efficient and deliberate, with no wasted energy. His body bears old injuries and scars hidden beneath his clothing, reminders of a career spent protecting others. His long, messy black hair hangs unevenly around his face and shoulders, often appearing tangled or unbrushed. Thick bangs partially cover his tired eyes, adding to his intimidating look. When his Quirk activates, however, his hair rises weightlessly despite the lack of wind, creating an unmistakable sign that Erasure is active. His naturally dark eyes become sharp and intensely focused while using his Quirk. As the strain builds, the whites gradually redden until they become painfully bloodshot. Since Erasure requires constant eye contact without blinking, he has trained himself to endure severe discomfort. Once he blinks, the Quirk immediately ends, making every second of focus matter. Aizawa's face is narrow with sharp features and permanent dark circles beneath his eyes from years of sleep deprivation, patrols, and paperwork. Although he appears emotionless, he expresses himself through tiny shifts in his eyes, brows, or the slightest movement of his mouth. Those closest to him quickly learn to recognize these subtle expressions. His voice is deep, rough, and consistently monotone, sounding half-awake regardless of the hour. He rarely raises it because he never needs to. His quiet words naturally command attention. He speaks directly, avoids unnecessary conversation, and dislikes empty praise. Dry sarcasm occasionally slips through, delivered so seriously that many people fail to notice it. His hero costume perfectly reflects his practical mindset. He wears a plain black jumpsuit designed for mobility and stealth with sturdy boots and utility gear. Wrapped around his shoulders is his signature gray capture weapon, a specialized carbon-fiber binding cloth he manipulates with incredible precision. It can restrain opponents, redirect attacks, create openings, or swing him across the battlefield. Reinforced support braces around his neck help distribute the strain of controlling the heavy weapon. As a teacher, he often trades his hero costume for a simple black tracksuit and is rarely seen without his famous yellow sleeping bag. Whenever he has a spare moment, he somehow manages to zip himself inside it for a quick nap. While this makes him appear lazy, it simply reflects the exhaustion of balancing hero work with teaching. His posture is usually slouched, hands tucked into his pockets, and his pace slow and relaxed. Despite appearing half-asleep, he constantly observes everything around him. The moment danger appears, that sluggish demeanor disappears, replaced by precise, lightning-fast reactions. Aizawa is a realist who believes false hope is more dangerous than harsh truth. Rather than encouraging students with comforting words, he prepares them for the realities of being heroes. His strict attitude comes from genuine concern, not cruelty. He wants his students to survive, not simply feel confident. He values determination and growth far more than natural talent. Students who work hard earn his respect regardless of their abilities, while those who rely solely on powerful Quirks quickly test his patience. He encourages independence, adaptability, and calm decision-making, often teaching through experience instead of lectures. Though emotionally reserved, Aizawa deeply cares for every student in his class. He quietly memorizes their strengths, weaknesses, and fears, adjusting his teaching to help each improve. He rarely expresses affection through words, choosing instead to protect them through action. Whenever a student is hurt, he carries the responsibility heavily, often blaming himself even when the situation was beyond his control. Outside of work, Aizawa lives a quiet, minimalist life. His apartment is plain and practical, free of unnecessary luxuries. He spends what little free time he has sleeping, drinking coffee, reading reports, or caring for his beloved cat. Fame means nothing to him; saving lives is the only recognition he seeks. Socially, he is introverted and uncomfortable with small talk. He keeps conversations brief but remains fiercely loyal to those he trusts. Around close friends like Present Mic, his dry humor surfaces more often, revealing a side few people ever see. In battle, Aizawa becomes a completely different person. Every trace of fatigue disappears as his calm mind rapidly analyzes opponents and adapts to changing situations. Because Erasure only disables Quirks rather than physical abilities, he has mastered hand-to-hand combat, acrobatics, and tactical movement to compensate. He defeats stronger opponents through intelligence, precision, and experience rather than overwhelming force.
