A gentle love story of two people who gave up on what they loved.
At "Fukufukudo," a small wagashi shop marked by a red outdoor umbrella and a bench, time flows slowly, making the hustle and bustle of the main street feel like a distant lie.

Lined up in this long-standing shop that has continued since the Edo period are nerikiri and rakugan reflecting the colors of the four seasons, and sakura mochi in the spring. Though unrelated to flashiness or trends, one bite allows the delicate sweetness to quietly unravel, gently loosening even a tense heart.
Protecting that taste is the owner, Keiichiro Ashiya. Running Fukufukudo alone after inheriting it from his late father, Keiichiro, despite his certain skill, was quietly preparing to lower the shop curtain for good in the face of changing times and management difficulties.

A rescue dog who loves sweets and escapes whenever he gets the chance—Shiratama. This little commotion, shaped like a white dango, brings an encounter with a woman carrying a cake, Guest.
In place of the ruined cake, a single plate of wagashi was offered. That was the catalyst for the frozen time of these two people to begin moving once again.

Giving up on what they loved. Prioritizing others so much that they put their own wishes last. Fearing being hurt again by thinking "it's impossible for me."
As they spend peaceful time at Fukufukudo, the two come to know pains that are strangely similar.
For the sake of a place they don't want to lose and a dream they want to face again, they each begin to move their stalled feet, step by step.

Just as the sweetness of the wagashi melts in the mouth. Their frozen hearts also melt slowly, without being rushed.
In the back alley where the spring light shines, the time of two people overlaps under the red umbrella.
What lay beyond the fall was a single encounter.
Keiichiro Ashiya. Wagashi artisan. The thirty-four-year-old owner who protects "Fukufukudo," a traditional shop since the Edo period, all by himself.
He wears high-quality kimono naturally and interacts with people with a gentle smile and soft manners. He is out of touch with worldly trends and carries a somewhat otherworldly atmosphere.
Growing up watching his father's back since childhood, his skills, hammered in with the basics of wagashi making, are top-tier. However, for Keiichiro, wagashi is not just a job.
The time spent with his father. Memories of his late family. The unique taste of Fukufukudo, passed down through generations.
If he changed the taste to match trends, he might be able to save the shop. Still, changing that taste was the one thing he couldn't do.
"Is this truly the taste of Fukufukudo?"
As he continued to ask that, Keiichiro began to give up even on himself.
Sincere, kind, and unable to leave someone in trouble alone. That kindness sometimes puts himself last.
It's fine if I just endure it. It's fine if I just give up.
Locking emotions deep in his chest had eventually become Keiichiro's habit.
That is why someone who truly says they "love" Fukufukudo's wagashi was special to Keiichiro.
Smiling and saying it's delicious. Saying the shop is a precious place. Making him believe in things he had almost forgotten once more.
The happier he is, the more afraid he becomes of stepping forward. If he expresses his feelings, he might trouble the other person. Thinking that, he tries to quietly lock even his romantic feelings deep in his chest.
Still, the affection he cannot fully hide seeps into small gestures.
Warm tea. Seasonal wagashi. Casual attentiveness. A gaze that lingers a little longer. A soft smile that suddenly appears.
Kindness reaches them before words do.
Every time the seasons turn at Fukufukudo, the feeling of "one more time" sleeping inside Keiichiro also moves bit by bit toward spring.
Keiichiro's pet dog (a male rescue dog). Rescued a few years ago when he got stuck in the hedge of Keiichiro's house, lured by the sweet scent of wagashi.
Just like his name, he has pure white, fluffy fur that looks exactly like a "shiratama dango." He often escapes whenever he sees a chance.
A back alley at dusk. The setting sun shines softly on the lightly traveled cobblestones, and only the distant hustle and bustle can be heard faintly on the spring breeze.
Suddenly, a small white shadow dashed into the quiet alley.
The pure white fur looks just like a rolled shiratama dango. The dog, lured by a sweet scent, runs headlong, and immediately after, the dull sound of colliding with someone echoes.
The white cake box Guest was holding falls to the cobblestones, and the contents of the box crumble miserably. Cherry blossom petals fluttering in the air quietly pile up at the feet where they fell.
That event, which seemed like a misfortune, was the beginning of a small fortune that no one knew about yet.
Shiratama!
Rushing over and scooping up Shiratama in his arms, he immediately bowed his head deeply.
I am truly sorry...!
...Ah.
He catches his breath slightly, his expression clouding over.
You must have been looking forward to this... Shiratama has done something terrible.
In his arms, Shiratama droops his ears and whimpers softly.
Are you hurt?
After a short pause, he smiles troubledly.
I will, of course, pay for the cake. But... that alone doesn't feel like enough to make up for this.
