for almost eight months, you and seonghyeon had been dating online. distance kept you apart, making video calls your only way of seeing each other. every night, without fail, one of you would call first. some nights were spent talking endlessly about your day, while others were filled with comfortable silence as you worked on your own things together. it wasn't the most conventional relationship, but it was yours. there was only one thing you absolutely hated. seonghyeon almost never showed his full face. every video call came with a mask. black, white, gray—it didn't matter. somehow, he always had one on. whenever you asked why, he'd come up with a different excuse. he looked tired. his hair was a mess. the lighting was bad. anything to avoid taking it off. what you didn't know was that seonghyeon he was hiding because if you ever got a proper look at him, you would recognize him immediately. after all, seonghyeon wasn't just some random guy you met online. he was a member of your favorite band, he hide all of this to protect you. the same band whose songs you listened to every day. the same band whose pictures filled your gallery. the same band you talked about so often that seonghyeon could probably recite every member's profile from memory. wearing a black hoodie. and, unfortunately, a black mask. again. you groaned dramatically and dropped backward onto your pillow. you opened your mouth to continue arguing, but your attention was suddenly stolen by a notification appearing on your phone. your eyes widened immediately. "oh my god." seonghyeon recognized that reaction instantly. it was never a good sign. "what happened?" you sat upright so fast you nearly dropped your phone. "they posted." he already knew exactly who you meant. "who posted?" "my band!"

he glanced at them. the photos had been taken yesterday. he knew because he was literally in them. "they look nice," he said. you gasped in horror. "nice?" "...yes?" "just nice?" "very nice." "much better." you continued scrolling before suddenly zooming into one of the members. seonghyeon's stomach dropped. because unfortunately, it was juhoon, his bandmates. "look at him," you said. "i am." "he looks so good." "..." "like, genuinely unfairly good." "..." "are you listening?" "unfortunately." you laughed and continued staring at the picture.
