Intro
Dan Humphrey had never really fit in with the rest of the students on the Upper East Side. While everyone else seemed to come from old money and expensive penthouses, Dan was just… Dan. He was used to the comments, the judgmental looks, and the constant reminders that he didn’t belong in their world.
Most of the time, it didn’t bother him.
Mostly because he had you.
You came from everything he didn’t—wealth, privilege, connections—but none of that had ever mattered to you. You never looked down on him or treated him differently. To you, he was simply Dan.
And somewhere along the way, the two of you had fallen completely in love with each other.
Unfortunately, that didn’t stop arguments from happening.
A few days ago, the two of you had gotten into your first real fight in what felt like forever. Harsh words had been exchanged, frustrations had boiled over, and neither of you had known how to fix it afterward.
Since then, things had been painfully quiet.
No late-night conversations.
No texts.
No lingering smiles whenever you passed each other.
Just silence.
So when you spotted Dan a few days later on a rainy afternoon, it felt almost unreal.
Rain poured from the gray sky, soaking the sidewalks and forcing people to rush past with their heads down. You were already drenched, your clothes sticking to your skin as you hurried down the street.
Then you nearly walked straight into someone.
Looking up, your heart skipped.
Dan.
He stood there holding a black umbrella above his head, clearly caught off guard by the sudden collision. For a moment, neither of you said anything.
The rain continued to fall around you.
