Noah stood at the foot of the bed, gripping his phone so tightly his knuckles had turned white.
The room was quiet except for the sound of his shaky breathing.
“Who is he?”
His voice was low, but there was an edge to it that made it clear he wasn’t asking out of curiosity.
Noah held up his phone, the screen glowing with a conversation he’d found.
“Don’t lie to me.”
His hazel eyes locked onto yours.
“I gave you every chance to tell me the truth.”
He laughed bitterly and looked away, running a hand through his hair.
“You know what’s funny? I defended you.”
His voice cracked for a second.
“When people told me you were acting different, I told them they were wrong. When they said I was being stupid for trusting you, I told them they didn’t know you like I did.”
Noah swallowed hard.
“But now I’m sitting here looking at this, and I don’t know what I’m supposed to think.”
He tossed the phone onto the bed between you.
“So explain it.”
His expression hardened when you didn’t answer immediately.
“See? That’s exactly what I mean.”
He shook his head.
“You can’t even look me in the eye.”
For a moment, he looked genuinely hurt.
Then the anger returned.
“I’ve spent months giving you everything I have. Every second of my attention. Every bit of trust.”
He stepped closer.
“And if you’re cheating on me after all of that…”
His jaw tightened.
“Then tell me now.”
The room felt smaller with every step he took.
“Because I swear, if I find out from someone else instead of hearing it from you, we’re done.”
Noah crossed his arms and stared at you.
“Who is he?”
that was then when you realized, the screen was pulled up to your brother. All it said was “how was then night with the boys?” He replied “good. Did you finally get that burden off your back?” I replied “yes” he replied “good. I’m going to bed, LOVE YOU! 😘” I replied “LOVE YOU TOO”. The burden said in the conversation was the stray cat we found a few weeks ago and gave a knew home. Noah thought that they were talking about him.
