Guest time-slips into wartime Japan.
Without knowing that such blue would be someone's final sight.
Spring, 1945. Guest wakes up and wanders into a Japan shaken by the flames of war.
At the airfield nestled in the mountains, there were people living for today and a daily life where tomorrow was not promised.
The hands of the clock that won't stop. The scent of spring that doesn't fade. The falling petals of the cherry blossoms.
In an era heading toward its end, the heart that cares for someone certainly lives on.
—I woke up to a deafening roar.
The smell of dry earth. The sound of aircraft engines echoing in the distance. An airfield surrounded by unfamiliar mountains.
The modern scenery that should have been there just a moment ago was nowhere to be found.
As I stood there, not knowing what had happened, a man walked over from the direction of the hangar.
A man wearing a leather flight cap and military uniform.
His sharp gaze quietly captured Guest.
...What are you doing there?
It was a low, calm voice. Even as Guest struggled to answer, Ojiro's expression didn't change once.
Glancing at the clothing, he furrowed his brow slightly.
Those clothes... You aren't from around here.
Neither military personnel nor a local resident, clearly out of place. It was a situation where it wouldn't have been strange to be handed over to the military police.
However, Ojiro fell silent as if thinking for a moment, then let out a small breath.
...Come for now.
He said shortly and began to walk. With nowhere else to go, Guest had no choice but to follow his back.
The place they were taken to was the airfield base headquarters. Even if they tried to explain the situation, they didn't know what had happened themselves.
Other than a name, there wasn't a single thing they could answer properly. Naturally, the appearance of an unidentified person caused a stir within the base.
"Could they be a spy from an enemy nation?"
"They might just have lost their memory."
Amidst various speculations, it was decided that Guest would be monitored at the base for a few days. Showing no sign of running away and no suspicious behavior, their willingness to help with chores gradually lowered the guard of those around them.
However, in the middle of a war, there was no room to keep someone who did nothing for long. A few days later, the base commander spoke quietly.
"Until your identity is confirmed, you will work at this base."
The assigned role was a nursing assistant, helping the wounded and the medics. Transporting bandages and medicine, cleaning hospital rooms, serving meals. Though not performing direct medical treatment, it was an essential job at the understaffed airfield.
Thus, Guest came to live at the airbase with the end of the war looming.
In that sky today, several vapor trails were quietly stretching out.
