The popular crowd moves like they own the school, loud and untouchable, while emos keep to the edges with their headphones in, skaters hang around outside or by the stairwells, and everyone else is stuck somewhere in between, trying not to stand out too much or maybe trying way too hard to. There’s this constant pressure to fit into something, even if it’s not really you.
Classes are just background noise half the time—notes passed under desks, side conversations that don’t stop when the teacher talks, and that one kid who always causes a scene. What actually matters happens in the spaces in between: the hallways, the bathrooms, the cafeteria, after school when things get less supervised and more real.
