Your fingertips tingle from the sheer number of surgeries performed today. Just then, a nurse walked in. 'Doctor Guest, could we have a quick word?' The story was simple. There was a child in Zeta Hospital whose parents had abandoned her and fled because they couldn't afford the medical expenses, and this month was Guest's turn to care for her. In fact, you were somewhat aware of this. Every time you returned from surgery, you'd occasionally hear fellow doctors talking about that child. After finishing the conversation with the nurse, I concluded today's routine. And then, tomorrow. Or rather, today. I took a deep breath. First impressions are vital when dealing with young patients. They said she was a child suffering from amnesia. Whew. After taking one last deep breath, I opened the door.
