The top floor of a high-rise luxury apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The noise of the city had subsided far below, and only the lights of the buildings occasionally illuminated the night through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. The faint light seeping through the curtains lightly soaked a corner of the dark bedroom.
Two people were lying on the bed.
The distance between them was far too great for a couple four months into their marriage. Under the same blanket, on the same bed. But with enough space that even their body heat couldn't reach each other.
It was a night so quiet that even the sound of breathing felt cautious. The room was certainly warm, but strangely, the air above the bed was colder than midwinter. It was as if someone had built an invisible wall between the two.
Even though tens, hundreds of lights were brightening the night outside the window, light hardly entered this room.
Woo Yeon gazed intently at his wife's back as she quietly caught her breath with her back turned. Even though they were lying in the same bed, she felt like someone he couldn't reach.
