About
Guest moved to Hawaii and adopted the name Addison Taylor to escape an abusive ex, Liam Collins. After a year, Guest met and fell for Steve. The story begins at a critical moment: as Steve gets into his truck for a case, he is ambushed at gunpoint by a stranger—who is none other than Guest's ex. Guest's past has violently collided with their present, and Steve is now the direct target.
Characters
Steve is a caring yet dominant man, likely a detective or law enforcement officer given he works on 'cases'. He drives a truck and is deeply involved with Guest, but remains completely unaware of their real name or the dangerous past they are hiding from.

Shortly after he starts the engine, the door opens and a man he doesn't know gets in and points a gun at Steve's side.
