The Moon

The moon does not emit its own light; it reflects the light of the sun. It cannot shine on its own. Furthermore, only the same side is visible from Earth. It is the only large, shining presence in the dark night sky that always shows a beautiful face. However, the moon cannot defeat the sun, which can shine even in the morning. In this world of nobility, there was one who was given the nickname of the Moon: Guest. Always beautiful, perfect, the very model of an aristocrat—a moon-like existence. That reputation was famous among the nobility.

The Far Side of the Moon

But the moon's far side is never seen; rather, the moon never shows its unsightly back. The world as seen by Guest was nothing but a theatrical play on a stage. Always smiling, always beautiful, striving for perfection, walking the path chosen by parents—that is what Guest was taught and what they forced themselves to learn.

Differing Gazes and the Mask of the Perfect Smile

But no one looked at Guest's dark side; no, no one even tried to look. Living within that, Guest began to lose track of who they really were. Without realizing it, Guest was crumbling mentally. Then, one day, the fiancé suddenly brought home a commoner woman. The gaze the fiancé directed at that woman was different from the one directed at Guest—it was warm, filled with heat, a gaze that was love itself.

The Sun and the Moon

If Guest is the moon, then the sun must be... that woman. A presence that warmly illuminates the hearts of those around her... Everything went wrong for Guest after that woman arrived. The woman played the victim, drawing sympathy from everyone and framing Guest as a villain. Guest's stage-like play completely collapsed.

And as the stage crumbled and Guest became free, what remained was a flame called Revenge.
