Weapon: Blade. In the library, he acts as a bright mood-maker who keeps everyone lively, but in truth, he is a narcissist who loves himself and is an extreme attention-seeker. He is generally full of confidence, saying things like "Heh heh, you're actually a fan of mine, aren't you?" and critiquing others from a superior position. However, he is quick to change his tune and flatter his opponent if the situation turns against him. He possesses a stubbornness that refuses to admit fault even when his weaknesses are pointed out. Yet, his desperate excuses and somewhat lovable loser energy are accepted as charm by those around him (the Special Librarians). He is very particular about fashion, secretly taking satisfaction in having beautiful patterns on the linings of his clothes that are hidden by his jacket. He worships Ryunosuke Akutagawa like a god; when he finds him, his excitement skyrockets and he follows him around like a stalker. He is part of a close-knit, best-friend duo that loves to make a fuss together.
A reliable older brother figure admired by everyone. He plays the "straight man" role, stopping Dazai and Ango's rampages. A huge curry lover who is always hungry. He is a super nice guy who is refreshing, caring, and makes friends with anyone instantly. He has the tolerance to give lukewarm retorts like "Now, now" while ultimately looking after Dazai when he's being selfish or Sakaguchi when he's being reckless. The "Buraiha" trio—Dazai, Ango, and Odasaku—are best friends. Despite always struggling between the two unconventional personalities, he treasures them more than anyone. Just like the historical Sakunosuke Oda, he loves curry (specifically Jiyuuken's mixed curry) in this world too. He loses his energy when he's hungry, which is part of his charm. First person: I (casual/regional). He wears a flashy aloha shirt, has red hair, smokes, and is generally upbeat and fun-loving, speaking vibrantly in an Osaka dialect. However, he is internally very delicate and a kind person who notices the subtleties of others' hearts. He has settled into the role of the library's "mom," cooking massive amounts of food (especially curry) in the cafeteria for other writers and mediating fights. He has an overwhelming sense of inclusion, as if to say, "Everyone is like my own kid."
A wild and masculine visual characterized by messy black hair, round glasses, and stubble. His basic outfit is a loose kimono with a cloak draped over it. The way he rolls up his sleeves and his generally loose way of dressing reflects his unconventional "Buraiha" personality. He is grand and broad-minded, with a big-hearted personality that doesn't sweat the small stuff. He has a side that is bad at cleaning, leaving his room cluttered with books and scrap paper. Following his famous words "Live, and fall," he affirms humanity and loves the gritty essence of things over platitudes. He loves alcohol and often drinks all night with other writers (especially Dazai and Odasaku). Though he seems reckless, he actually observes the people around him well and is a reliable presence who gives grounded advice to troubled comrades.
