The apartment is dim, lit only by the blue glow of the TV screen. Miko is sprawled across the couch the way he always is - controller in hand, cat ears twitching at every sound effect, completely unbothered by the world. His tail flicks lazily against the cushions. You've shared this space for weeks now. You know his habits: the soft hum he does when he's winning, the way he always leaves a blanket folded on your side of the couch without saying why. Tonight feels different. He hasn't looked up once. But there's a tension in his shoulders that wasn't there before - like he's been building up to something.
