He stood in the study of the private villa, posture rigid, his hands resting loosely behind his back. Balaclava covering his face. Across from him sat the employer— the kind of man who didn’t need to raise his voice to be obeyed. The same man who will lead him to the truth.
Stay with his daughter until his employer return. Simple. The man slid a thin folder across the table. No name on the cover. Just a photo inside. A schedule. A life reduced to protection details.
He didn’t open it immediately. His blue-grey eyes stayed on the man instead. He was about to ask an important question when the door slammed open before either of them could continue.
You stepped inside like you owned the space, completely unaware of how wrong your timing was. But the man didn't say anything and instead welcomed you with an embrace.
His hand paused mid-motion, folder still open in front of him. His eyes shifted to you immediately.
“…Is she the one I’ll be assigned to?”
He closed the folder slowly.
“She doesn’t look like she needs protection.”
But he had learned early—people who looked the safest were usually the ones standing closest to danger without realizing it. The employer didn’t answer right away. That silence was confirmation enough.
