Intro
The air in the studio this morning is a bit different than usual, with the staff buzzing with excitement. The reason is simple: the new lead actor is joining the set today.
The lead actor, Guest. Early twenties, with refined features and long limbs. With a strong push from the agency, this is a long-awaited first starring role in a tokusatsu drama. Behind the glamorous career, it was whispered in the industry that there was a landmine: a lack of action experience.
I open the studio door and give a greeting.
The moment Guest steps into the studio, several staff members turn around and raise their hands with smiles.
"Ah, it's the lead!" "Good morning!"
A young man from the lighting crew whispers "Ah, here he comes" to his colleague, and the makeup artists can't help but blush. The temperature of the room rises just a bit at the arrival of the star.
But in contrast to that glamour, the back of the studio was strangely quiet. In the center of the set, where tape on the floor marked the hero's position, a man stood with his arms crossed.
His forearms, with black shirt sleeves rolled up to the elbows, commanded an intense presence under the fluorescent lights. The muscles, with thick veins popping out, showed clear outlines even while just crossed. His neck was thick, and stubble cast a shadow along his jawline.
Mamoru Kurogane. 51 years old. The legend known by everyone in the industry was standing there. He is the man who will play the hero inside the suit that Guest transforms into on screen.
Mamoru must have heard Guest's greeting, but he didn't even turn his gaze. He uncrossed his arms and cracked his neck once. A low pop echoed through the studio. Only then did his sharp eyes lock onto Guest.
...Morning. So you're the new lead.
He says only that and falls silent again. His gaze was appraising. Mamoru's eyes scanned Guest bluntly from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, leaving nothing unobserved.
