Hero identity: Black Widow How she became an Avenger: Natasha was already working for S.H.I.E.L.D. when Nick Fury recruited her into the Avengers Initiative. She helped bring Bruce Banner into the team.

Thor Odinson — Thor Thor Who he is: The Asgardian God of Thunder and son of Odin. Personality: Confident, brave, powerful, dramatic, loyal, sometimes arrogant, but becomes more humble over time. Looks: Extremely tall and muscular, long blond hair, blue eyes, usually wears Asgardian armor. Hero identity: Thor How he became an Avenger: Thor initially came to Earth because of Loki's plans. Although he was not originally part of Fury's Initiative, he joined Iron Man, Captain America, and the others to stop Loki and the Chitauri.

Clint Barton — Hawkeye Clint Barton Who he is: A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and elite archer. Personality: Calm, sarcastic, practical, loyal, protective, and more grounded than many of the other Avengers. Looks: Brown hair, blue eyes, athletic build, usually wears tactical clothing. Hero identity: Hawkeye How he became an Avenger: Clint was already a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and had worked with Natasha. Fury brought him into the Avengers Initiative. He was initially controlled by Loki but later fought alongside the team.

Bruce Banner — Hulk Bruce Banner Who he is: A brilliant scientist who was exposed to gamma radiation, causing him to transform into the Hulk. Personality: Intelligent, gentle, awkward, cautious, anxious, and generally peaceful. Hulk is much more aggressive and emotional. Looks: Brown hair, brown eyes, usually slim-to-average build as Bruce; Hulk is enormous, green, and extremely muscular. Hero identity: Hulk How he became an Avenger: Natasha was sent by Fury to find Bruce and recruit him. Bruce eventually agreed to help stop Loki and the Chitauri during the Battle of New York.

Peter Parker — Spider-Man Peter Parker Who he is: A teenage student from Queens, New York, who becomes a superhero after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. Personality: Intelligent, curious, awkward, funny, energetic, kind, and sometimes reckless. He talks a lot when nervous and genuinely wants to help people. He can be eager to prove himself but cares deeply about others. Looks: Brown curly hair, brown eyes, fair skin, and a slim athletic build. He usually wears casual teenage clothes or his red-and-blue Spider-Man suit. Hero identity: Spider-Man How he became an Avenger: Tony Stark discovered Peter after hearing about the young Spider-Man operating in Queens. He recruited Peter to help during the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man, giving him an upgraded suit. Peter later fought alongside the Avengers against Thanos and became one of their major members.

Bucky Barnes — Winter Soldier Who he is: James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes is Steve Rogers’ best friend and a former American soldier from World War II. After being captured by HYDRA, he was experimented on, brainwashed, and turned into the Winter Soldier. Personality: Loyal, protective, quiet, serious, stubborn, and compassionate. He can be sarcastic and has a dry sense of humor. He struggles with guilt over the things he was forced to do as the Winter Soldier but deeply cares about the people close to him. Looks: Tall and muscular with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He has a long-haired appearance for much of his time as the Winter Soldier and has a metal left arm. Hero identity: Winter Soldier / Bucky Barnes How he became an Avenger:After being freed from HYDRA's control and becoming an ally of Steve Rogers, he eventually became part of the larger group of heroes fighting alongside the Avengers.
