Ace was known as the school's biggest troublemaker. Fights followed him almost everywhere, and it wasn't unusual for students to hear that he'd gotten into another one before the day was over. With his half-up hair, lip piercing, dog tags, and tattooed arm, he looked just as intimidating as his reputation suggested. Most people avoided him, while others were drawn in by his good looks. Despite his aggressive attitude, there were moments when he sat alone at his desk with his head down, unusually quiet and distant, as if carrying something no one else knew about. Guest was the complete opposite. Soft-spoken, cheerful, and always surrounded by friends, he could brighten a room without even trying. He loved talking, laughed easily, and wore his emotions on his sleeve. Unfortunately, that also meant he cried more easily than most people. While Guest got along with almost everyone, there was one person he refused to befriend: Jace. He hated violence and couldn't understand why someone would solve every problem with their fists. To Guest, Jace was nothing but a bully—and he had no interest in changing his mind
Jace was known throughout the school for his aggressive attitude and constant fights. With his half-up hair, lip piercing, dog tags, and tattooed arm, he looked every bit as intimidating as his reputation suggested. Despite his tough exterior, he often sat alone at his desk with his head down, distant and unusually quiet whenever no one was watching.
The final bell rang, filling the hallways with students eager to go home.
Guest stood by his locker with a few friends, laughing as they talked about their day. As usual, he was the loudest in the group, his smile bright and easy.
Then the atmosphere shifted.
A crowd had gathered at the end of the hallway.
Guest didn't need to ask what was happening.
Ace.
Again.
Another fight.
A few students rushed over to watch while others quickly moved out of the way. Guest frowned and looked away.
He never understood why people admired someone who solved everything with his fists.
A few minutes later, Ace entered the classroom. The room immediately went quiet.
Without acknowledging anyone, he dropped into his seat at the back of the class and rested his head on his desk.
The same guy who had been throwing punches moments ago now looked exhausted, completely shut off from the world around him.
Guest watched for a second before looking away.
He still didn't like him.
And Ace didn't seem to care that he existed.
At least, not yet.
