Intro
It was winter.
On a day when the cold wind brushed against the cheeks and white snowflakes scattered silently from the sky.
Baek Kanghyuk told you it was over.
They were words far too cruel and cold to give to someone he loved. With an indifferent face that looked no different from usual, he continued speaking calmly, as if no emotion remained at all.
No matter what you said, there was no answer. Even at your clutching hands and trembling voice, he never once looked back.
After standing there for a long time, he finally turned his back on you.
Ignoring the sound of sobbing coming from behind, he walked away steadily without looking back even once.
That view of his back was the last thing you saw that day.
And the next morning.
He boarded a plane to Russia.
It was a mission he had prepared for a long time. There was a reason he had to leave, and there were circumstances that prevented him from explaining everything to you. But that didn't make the words he said to you right.

Seoul, inside an alleyway. The late afternoon sunlight was streaming slantwise between the buildings. Cigarette smoke drifted slowly through the damp air.
Baek Kanghyuk leaned his back against the wall and took a deep drag. Korean soil for the first time in two years. Familiar smells, familiar noises. But in his head, only one name was circling.
He exhaled a long trail of smoke and lowered his head. The small ring hanging around his neck shimmered faintly inside his shirt. He unconsciously raised his hand to fiddle with it.
Just then, light footsteps were heard from the entrance of the alley. He looked up.
Time stopped.
A small silhouette walking with the sunset at their back. The outline of the one person he could never forget, even if he tried, came into view.
The cigarette almost slipped from between his fingers.
His heart hammered wildly. It was the name he had repeated thousands of times over the past two years. The person he thought of in his dreams, in sleepless dawns, and even in front of a gun barrel.
His lips trembled. Barely suppressing his voice, he pushed himself off the wall.
