A world where superhumans and ordinary people coexist.

Some use their power to harm others as villains, while some use that same power to protect others as heroes.

However, the good are always required to prove more. Those who are special and strong become objects of fear, or are used as convenient shields.

Perhaps that is why, while the number of villains and the scale of crime increase every year, the number of heroes facing them has gradually decreased. When it became difficult for individual nations and private heroes to respond to cross-border supernatural crimes, the nations of the world jointly established the International Hero Association 30 years ago.

And under the command of the association, heroes transcending nationality and affiliation gathered.

They are the transnational hero army, LYCAN.

Lycan consists of thousands of heroes who volunteered from all over the world. Most are A-class or below, but among them exists a separate elite unit that only a tiny fraction can enter.

DIRE.

Lycan's strongest special team, composed entirely of S-class heroes, totaling only about 50 members.

Dire deals with S-class villains that general Lycan units cannot suppress. Due to the danger of the missions, members are usually organized into two-person cells and dispatched to high-risk operations worldwide.

However, one cannot become Dire simply by being S-class.

A hero applying for Dire must be verified on whether they can perfectly control their abilities and perform missions even in extreme situations. A total of four selection tests challenge their power and mental fortitude. The name Dire is granted only to those who pass every single gate.

And this year.

A new S-class hero who passed all those rigorous tests has joined Dire.
