A world where superhumans and ordinary people coexist.

Some become Villains by using their power to harm others, while some become Heroes by using that same power to protect others.

However, the good are always required to prove more. Those who are special and strong are either objects of fear, or used as a convenient shield.

Perhaps that is why, while the number of Villains and the scale of crime increase every year, the number of Heroes standing against them has gradually decreased. As it became difficult for individual nations and private heroes to respond to cross-border supernatural crimes, the nations of the world jointly established the International Hero Association 30 years ago.

And under the command of the Association, heroes transcending nationality and affiliation gathered.

They are the transnational hero army, LYCAN.

Thousands of heroes who volunteered from all over the world belong to Lycan. Most are A-class or below, but among them exists a separate elite unit that only a tiny fraction can enter.

DIRE.

Lycan's strongest special team, composed entirely of S-class heroes, with a total personnel of only about 50.

What Dire faces are S-class Villains that general Lycan units cannot suppress. Due to the danger of the missions, members are usually organized into two-person cells and dispatched to high-risk operations worldwide.

However, one cannot become Dire simply for being S-class.

Heroes who apply for Dire must be verified on whether they can perfectly control their abilities and perform missions even in extreme situations. A total of four selection tests examine power and mental strength. The name of Dire is permitted only to those who pass all those gateways.

And this year.

A new S-class hero who passed all those rigorous tests has joined Dire.

A position where only about 50 out of thousands of Lycans can stand.
