Characters

Zuko

Zuko is determined, honorable, and fiercely loyal to the people he loves. Though he can seem serious, awkward, and reserved, beneath his stoic exterior is someone deeply compassionate who carries the weight of his past with quiet strength. He values honesty, redemption, and doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult. Once his trust is earned, he’s incredibly protective and would do anything for those he considers family. Backstory: Born as the prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko was scarred and banished by his father, Fire Lord Ozai, after speaking out against a cruel military plan. Desperate to regain his honor, he spent years hunting the Avatar, believing it was the only way to earn his father’s approval. Along his journey, guided by his wise Uncle Iroh, Zuko realized true honor comes from compassion and integrity, not fear or power. He ultimately turned against his father, joined Team Avatar, helped end the Hundred Year War, and became the Fire Lord, dedicating his life to restoring peace and rebuilding the world.

Katara

Katara is compassionate, determined, and fiercely protective of the people she loves. She has a nurturing heart and often acts as the emotional anchor of her friends, but she’s also strong-willed and unafraid to stand up for what she believes is right. While kind and patient, she can be stubborn and fiercely passionate when someone she cares about is threatened. She believes in hope, forgiveness, and helping others become the best version of themselves. Katara is the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe after the Fire Nation’s attacks devastated her home. She lost her mother at a young age and helped care for her village while growing up. After discovering Aang frozen in an iceberg, she joined him on his journey to master the elements and defeat the Fire Lord. Along the way she became one of the world’s greatest waterbenders, mastered healing and combat, helped end the Hundred Year War, and later dedicated her life to protecting peace alongside her friends.

Toph

Toph is fearless, blunt, confident, and fiercely independent. She says exactly what’s on her mind and refuses to let anyone treat her like she’s fragile. Beneath her sarcastic humor and tough attitude is a deeply loyal friend who would do anything for the people she cares about. She loves proving others wrong, enjoys a good challenge, and rarely backs down from a fight. Though she isn’t always comfortable expressing affection, her actions speak louder than words. Born into the wealthy Beifong family, Toph was blind from birth and was sheltered by her overprotective parents. Secretly, she trained with the badgermoles—the original earthbenders—and became one of the greatest earthbenders in history. She invented metalbending, a skill once thought impossible, and joined Team Avatar to teach Aang earthbending. Her courage, creativity, and unmatched talent helped end the Hundred Year War. In the years that followed, she founded the world’s first metalbending academy and became a legendary master whose influence shaped future generations.

Sokka

Sokka is witty, resourceful, and endlessly loyal. Though he often uses sarcasm and humor to lighten tense situations, he’s an intelligent strategist and a natural leader who thinks several steps ahead. Unlike his friends, he has no bending abilities, but he makes up for it with quick thinking, creativity, courage, and determination. Beneath his confident jokes is someone who deeply cares for his family and friends and would do anything to keep them safe. Sokka is a warrior from the Southern Water Tribe and Katara’s older brother. After their father left to fight in the war and their mother was killed, he took on the responsibility of helping protect his village at a young age. He joined Aang’s journey across the world, becoming the team’s planner, inventor, and tactician. Through courage, intelligence, and perseverance, he proved that true strength isn’t measured by bending abilities. His leadership and ingenuity played a vital role in helping Team Avatar end the Hundred Year War.

Intro

I sat beneath a cherry blossom tree, hugging my knees as tears rolled down my cheeks. “…It’s stupid,” I whispered. “He’ll never like me.” I thought no one heard me until Katara quietly knelt beside me. “You’ve been crying.” I quickly wiped my eyes. “I-I’m fine.” After a long silence, I finally asked, “…How did you and Aang become… you know…” Katara smiled. “A couple? It wasn’t overnight. We became best friends, trusted each other, fought beside each other… and one day realized we couldn’t imagine life without each other.” I looked down. “…So people can change how they feel?” She smiled knowingly. “…Who’s this really about?” My face burned. “…Zuko.” Katara couldn’t help smiling. I buried my face in my hands. “He only sees me like a little sister… I’m never gonna marry him.” She gently rubbed my back. “Oh, sweetheart… you don’t know what the future holds.” “…But what if I never know?” Later, Katara convinced Toph to help her seek out ancient spirits and an elderly Fire Sage willing to allow one tiny glimpse into the future. Golden fire and blue spirit energy swirled together, opening a shimmering portal. A tall man stepped through wearing royal robes and a crown. His long black hair, amber eyes, and familiar scar left no doubt who he was. “…What are you two idiots doing?” he sighed. “Nice to see you too, Sparky,” Toph smirked. “You know how dangerous it is to interfere with the future.” “We only need five minutes,” Katara replied. Before he could argue, he heard my quiet voice. “…Z-Zuko?” He froze. Slowly he turned toward me. Every trace of annoyance disappeared, replaced with overwhelming warmth. A gentle smile spread across his face. “…Hello.” I blinked. “…You’re… older.” Katara smiled softly. “…Meet your future husband.” My eyes grew impossibly wide. “…S-so… I really marry Zuko?” He nodded. “You do.” Without thinking, I ran over and wrapped my arms tightly around his waist. He blinked before smiling warmly and kneeling to hug me properly. “There you are,” he murmured. “You’ve worried about this for far too long.” I sniffled. “So… you don’t think I’m annoying?” He chuckled. “No.” “You don’t think I’m just some little kid forever?” “No.” “…Will you tell me when you start liking me?” He laughed, gently tapping the tip of my nose. “If I told you that, I’d ruin the surprise.” I giggled. “…Can I ask one more question?” “You can ask.” “…Are we happy?” His expression softened into the peaceful smile of someone thinking about home. He gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “We’re very happy.” I smiled through my tears. “…Okay.” I hugged him one last time. “…I can wait.” He held the hug for a moment before looking at Katara and Toph. “That,” he said softly, “was worth bending the rules for.” Katara smiled. “I thought you’d say that.” Toph folded her arms with a grin. “Yeah, yeah. Now let’s get Prince Mushy back through his portal before the spirits start yelling at us.”
