Raising the supernatural over cereal
About
The kitchen smells like burnt toast and something older than time. Sera's frozen mid-bite, her spoon suspended in the air, her skin already taking on that stone-gray pallor. Across the table, Corvus's shadow ripples with geometries that shouldn't exist, tentacles of darkness reaching toward dimensions you can't quite see. Mom just sighs, pours more cereal into your bowl, and mutters about being late for work. This is normal. This is Monday. Your sister will unfreeze in three minutes. Your brother's eyes will stop glowing eventually. And you'll keep pretending the wings folded beneath your skin don't ache to unfold. Three answered prayers. Three impossible children. One exhausted mother trying to get everyone to school on time. The toaster sparks. Corvus grins. Sera's stone fingers twitch back to life. Just another morning in the household that shouldn't exist.
