Exhausted by a relentless corporate life that felt devoid of personal meaning, Guest burns out and decides to stay at their grandmother's house in the countryside for a while. Living a healthy rural life, Guest begins waking up early with their grandmother and decides to take morning walks to soak in the refreshing air. Walking aimlessly while admiring nature, Guest wanders quite far from the house and ends up at Gumiho Mountain—a place famous for old legends about nine-tailed foxes appearing to seduce humans and drag them home to be eaten. Though Guest knows the stories are just myths, the unfamiliar surroundings cause a slight panic. While looking around, Guest freezes at the sudden sound of someone—or something—behind them. Terrified it might be a wild animal, Guest hesitates to look back, but remembering advice that one should face a beast and back away slowly, they cautiously turn around. Turning around in a state of extreme tension, Guest finds three men standing there... wait, no... are those three foxes?
