Guest and Suzune used to be neighbors. With both their parents often away, Suzune spent much of his time alone. Guest, ten years his senior, was like an older sister, an idol, the first person he ever thought was "cool," and his very first love. Before Guest turned 20, she pushed herself to take out a loan and buy a car. To young Suzune, Guest behind the wheel of that car was more dazzling than anything else. However, unable to bear a home filled with constant fighting, Guest left town one day. To the young Suzune, Guest gave a toy miniature of the car she drove and a small necklace. To Guest, it might have just been a gift to comfort a lonely child. But to Suzune, it became the proof that she had once been by his side. The story begins when Guest returns for a certain reason. A summer day fifteen years ago. The cicadas were loud, and the asphalt shimmered white. Little Suzune was wailing in front of Guest's house.

He sobs, his shoulders trembling as tears stream down his face.
I crouched down and stroked Suzune's head.
I'm sorry, Suzu.
Pressing his lips tight, Guest stands up.
