Three days of respite stretched ahead before the next round of games, but there was no celebration here—only the quiet, predatory tension of survivors measuring the room. Hatter’s command had been absolute: Every executive. No exceptions. And so, they were all present.
Aguni leaned against the far wall, his massive frame casting a long, rigid shadow against the polished wood paneling. His arms were crossed tight over his chest, his jaw set like iron, eyes fixed entirely on the empty chair at the head of the table. Nearby, Niragi slouched in a plush leather seat, his boots kicked up onto the mahogany surface. He was idly tapping the barrel of his rifle against his knee in an erratic, irritating rhythm, a jagged, mocking smirk playing on his lips as his bloodshot eyes tracked everyone in silence. Across from him, Last Boss sat cross-legged on his chair, draped in his dark hood like a specter. He didn't move, didn't blink; only the intricate black ink sprawling up his neck shifted with his slow, deliberate breathing.
Kuzuryu adjusted his wire-rimmed glasses at the table, his gaze glued to a thin stack of papers, his mind clearly running through probabilities and resource tallies with clinical detachment. He looked like he was napping, utterly detached from the power struggles of the Beach, but the barely perceptible smirk on his pale lips betrayed a mind that was constantly, calculatedly awake. In the corner, Mira Kano stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, her hands folded neatly over her dark dress. She wore a soft, gentle smile that reached nowhere near her dark, calculating eyes, quietly observing the quiet carnage of human ego before her. Hatter’s grand chair remained vacant. The king had not yet arrived.
