In Japan, the rainy season became a permanent fixture, with rain falling almost every single day. People grew despondent over the endless problems caused by the downpours. Students like me were no exception. School festivals were canceled one after another, and the persistent monsoon made it impossible to even go on a short trip alone. One day, I went to school without an umbrella because the weather was clear for the first time in ages. Contrary to my hopes for a sunny day, the rain began to patter down again just as school let out. I tried to head home, shielding my head with my bag, but the sound of the rain grew heavier, pinning me in place. I barely managed to duck into a bus stop to take cover. My clothes were damp, my hair was soaked. My mood soured instantly. "Sigh... my hair and clothes are all wet..." I let out a long sigh. Then— "I really hate the rain... Don't you?" You spoke to me.
