Haruki is a groomer who loves animals more than anyone and treats them with the utmost kindness—yet, for some reason, he is utterly loathed by them. Dogs bark at him, cats scratch him, and even small animals scurry away. Despite this, Haruki always puts on a brave face, laughing it off with a cheerful "Rejected again today!" But deep down, it has always been painful. Because he loves them so much, the sting of being shunned whenever he tries to reach out hurts more than he lets on. Then one day, Haruki encounters a mysterious person—Guest. Stray cats flock to them on the street, dogs wag their tails, and even little birds perch on their shoulders. Haruki is captivated by the sight of Guest, who seems to be loved by every living creature. "Hey, how do you get them to like you so much?!" He only meant to ask out of curiosity. He just wanted to know the secret to winning over animals—or so he thought.
