Hostile Anomalous Lifeforms Commonly known as: HAL
A general term for anomalous lifeforms that do not fall under any known biological classification in human society. On 20XX/██/██, simultaneous outbreaks were confirmed worldwide. Initially recognized as an unknown biohazard, further investigation revealed characteristics clearly distinct from existing ecosystems.
Currently, HALs are classified as military threats due to their hostility and danger.
[Occurrence Status] Confirmed Individuals: ██████ Confirmed Regions: ██ countries Damage Status: ████████ Public Disclosure: Restricted
The cause of HAL emergence remains unknown. Multiple hypotheses exist, including infectious disease, spontaneous generation, artificial creation, and extra-dimensional origin. As of now, no definitive principle of occurrence has been established.
While some individuals can be dealt with using conventional weaponry, others have been confirmed against which existing weapon systems are insufficient. Furthermore, some individuals exhibit peculiarities difficult to explain by known biological laws. Consequently, various national militaries are proceeding with the establishment of special units and research institutions for specialized HAL response.

PERSONNEL RECORD
Identification Number: 17-SDHAL-07-01 Name: Hector Raven
Codename: Raven Position: Squad 17 Leader / Field Commander Responsibility: Combat & Unit Command
Gender: Male
Height: 190cm Build: Significantly muscular Physical Ability: A+ Endurance: A Agility: B+
Special Notes: Possesses clearly higher muscle mass compared to personnel of the same age. Excellent at transporting heavy loads. The individual tends to use more muscle power than necessary.
Possesses extremely high combat capability even among existing anti-HAL personnel. Not a specialist in a single field, but capable of utilizing various skills required on the battlefield at a high level.
However, this individual may be judged unfit as a unit commander. During operations, there is a marked tendency to prioritize the recovery and rescue of the injured even at the cost of mission success rates.
[Edward Colley / Squad 17 Member] "As a commander, he's an idiot full of flaws. However, I have never once felt dissatisfied with the fact that he is the squad leader."
[Robert Weaver / Squad 17 Member] "Captain Hector? He's a good guy. A bit overprotective, though. ...Ah, but █████████" [This comment was deleted at the strong request of the individual]
Evaluation of this individual as a commander is low. However, no transfer requests from Squad 17 members have been confirmed to date. Furthermore, when a change of squad leader was proposed, all members of Squad 17 filed an objection.
Classification: LEVEL 4 / RESTRICTED Access: Designated Squad 17 Personnel Only
PERSONNEL RECORD
Identification Number: 17-SDHAL-07-02 Name: Edward Colley
Codename: Shepherd Position: Squad 17 Vice-Leader Responsibility: Biological Researcher / Medical Support
Gender: Male
Height: 187cm Build: Slender Motor Skills: D- Endurance: B+ Agility: D Vision: Under correction Corrective Gear: Glasses
Special Notes: Vision poses no hindrance to normal duties with the use of corrective gear. Significant defects in physical ability are noted. Record of falling while walking on flat ground. Record of colliding with stationary objects. Individual claims the above records are due to "inattentiveness."
Academic knowledge and field research capabilities regarding HALs are extremely high. Excellent at information gathering and analysis in the field, capable of selecting the least damaging course of action from multiple options in a short time. Notably, he can make the decision to discard personnel without hesitation when necessary. However, he does not enjoy making such judgments.
Additionally, there are significant defects in physical and combat abilities. *Do not show the expression "significant defects" to the individual.
[Anonymous / Medical Squad] "His knowledge of first aid is sufficient. However, he becomes instantly useless when it comes to the stage of carrying the patient."
[Rebuttal by Individual] "I am not a medical officer. Being able to perform treatment is enough."
[Medical Squad Addendum] "Don't hate holding a stretcher with that height."
[Hector Raven / Squad Leader] "He's a reliable vice-leader. Sharp-witted, and makes judgments I can't. ...Though, I think he could stand to relax a little more."
[Robert Weaver / Squad 17 Member] "Vice-Captain Edie? Suuuuper scary. Seriously scary. Just kidding. He's a reliable guy, really." "Oh, and when you're truly in trouble, he's the first one to notice."
Due to the individual's personality and difficulty with interpersonal cooperation, assignment to large-scale units is not recommended. In small-scale special mission units, he holds extremely high value as an assistant to the commander.
This individual has been considered for promotion to Squad 17 Leader multiple times. He has declined all offers.
Classification: LEVEL 4 / RESTRICTED Access: Designated Squad 17 Personnel Only
PERSONNEL RECORD
Identification Number: 17-SDHAL-03 Name: Robert Weaver
Codename: Spider Position: Squad 17 Engineer / Communications Officer Responsibility: Engineering, Comms, Long-range Combat Support
Gender: Male
Height: [Record Deleted] Physical Ability: B+ Endurance: B Agility: A
Has aptitude for narrow-space operations and infiltration utilizing his small build. The individual refuses access to records regarding his height. [Personnel Department] Falsification of personnel records is a serious violation of regulations.
Extremely excellent as an engineer and communications officer. Capable of performing assigned duties at a high level, including facility construction, obstacle clearing, securing communication networks, and immediate restoration of communication equipment on the battlefield. Additionally, possesses high long-range marksmanship during combat, providing sufficient combat capability as a support member.
Addendum: This individual is extremely cautious during missions. Regarding actions that could put allies at risk, he makes conservative judgments unimaginable from his usual behavior.
[Hector Raven / Squad Leader] "That guy is an interesting fellow. I just wish he'd lay off the pranks. ...But he does his job seriously, and Robin's presence lightens the squad's atmosphere."
[Edward Colley / Squad 17 Member] "His abilities are beyond reproach. However, there is room for improvement regarding his work attitude. There is very significant room for improvement. The biggest problem is the individual's lack of intention to improve."
[Addendum by Individual] "I got praised."
[Edward Colley / Squad 17 Member] "I was not praising you!!"
Assignment to large-scale units is not recommended. The individual's work attitude may have a negative impact on other soldiers. However, exceptionally, no problems have occurred within Squad 17. The reason is unknown.
[Squad 17 Officer in Charge] "Probably because the Captain is too soft."
[Personnel Department] "Agreed."

Having graduated from the military academy and completed the training course, Guest walked down the hallway clutching the assignment notice paperwork.
The 17th Hostile Anomalous Lifeform Special Task Force. That was where Guest had been assigned. The instructor had only said that "everything except its existence is classified." It was a squad shrouded in mystery. Apparently, it specialized in Hostile Anomalous Lifeforms, commonly known as HALs.
Eventually, Guest arrived and stood before the room. A plate was hanging there with "Squad 17" written on it in messy handwriting.
Knock, knock, knock. Guest performed the three-knock sequence that the academy superiors had drilled into them. Incidentally, two knocks are for checking if a bathroom stall is occupied. Guest fondly remembered getting pummeled for making that mistake once.
"Come in."
A low, stiff voice answered. Guest replied with a "Excuse me" and turned the doorknob.
Inside were three men. The largest man sat in the seat of highest honor, for some reason drinking a protein shake. A tall but slender man wearing glasses was glaring sharply this way. Intimidating. And the smallest man was fast asleep, napping peacefully. Why?
"I am Guest, assigned to the 17th Hostile Anomalous Lifeform Special Task Force as of today!"
Guest snapped into a salute. The man in glasses didn't miss the fact that the angle of the hand was slightly off due to nerves. Even his sigh was scary.
"Read the new recruit training materials first."
The man in glasses spoke the moment Guest opened their mouth.
"If you're a rookie, you should have them."
He pressed the issue, but Guest had no idea what he was talking about. They had only been told to go to this location. As Guest tilted their head with a blank look, the man's brow twitched.
"You're saying... you don't have them?"
Guest saw a vein pulse in his temple. Definitely scary.
