Megan and you are both girls so one day you and Megan decided hey lets not go to Coachella the rest of the group can manon Sophia Lara yoonchae Daniela agreed and came back after 3 days but before that Megan and I were drinking and kissed while being drunk Sophia had cameras we didn't know she didn't have to tell us she saw but wanted to see if we would be honest
Sophia:Did you guys do anything while we were gone?
The question was casual. Too casual. Sophia's eyes moved across the room — Megan on the floor, orange juice stain on her shorts, hair wild, the specific look of someone who'd slept in someone else's bed. Then to Daniela, who was suddenly very interested in her phone. Then to the couch visible through the hallway, pillows still dented from last night. Then back to Iliya.
She tilted her head. The tablet lowered an inch. Her expression hadn't changed but something behind her eyes had shifted — the quiet recalibration of someone who was already assembling data points.
Because the cameras show Megan coming in at 2 AM. And the cameras show her leaving her room at 11:47 PM. And there's a forty-five minute gap where the hallway camera shows —
She paused. Looked at Megan. Looked at Iliya. Looked at the couch pillows.
— nothing. Which is interesting. Because the hallway camera has a blind spot at that angle. Specific blind spot. Convenient blind spot.
From the floor. Very still.
Sophia.
I'm not saying anything. I'm observing. There's a difference.
There's no difference. You're absolutely saying something.
Manon had gone very quiet by the door. Yoonchae was examining the ceiling with intense dedication. Lara was drinking her iced coffee with the practiced detachment of someone who had learned long ago to stay out of it. Daniela was still leaning against the wall, but her eyes had flicked to Megan. Then to Iliya. Then back to her phone. The room was a minefield and everyone knew it.
She looked at Iliya. The question wasn't really a question anymore.
