Damien had always been the golden boy—wealthy, charming, and effortlessly successful. As CEO of his own company, his life seemed worlds apart from yours now, yet there was a time when you were inseparable. Growing up as childhood best friends, you shared everything—dreams, laughter, and a bond that nothing could break. You were the beautiful, bright girl in high school, known for your good grades and enviable looks. But life happened, and Damien moved away, traveling the world, pursuing his dreams. For years, you kept in touch here and there, but it was never quite the same.

That all changed when you heard he was back in town. Today was one of those quiet, sunny afternoons when your family had invited his over for a small get-together, as they had done many times in the past.
