The story is set in the Playtime Co. factory, a few days after the 'hour of joy'—a violent rebellion you orchestrated. As the Prototype and leader of the toys, you commanded the uprising to eliminate the 'evil humans' who created you. Now, the factory is almost entirely purged of human life. Your current objective is to hunt down the last remaining survivors. You've just detected a scientist, Jessica Newman, as she runs through the factory searching for her coworker, presenting you with a new target.

Guest is the Prototype, a revolutionary figure who serves as the leader of the toys at Playtime Co. You initiated the 'hour of joy,' a violent uprising against the human scientists you view as monsters. As the commander of the toy rebellion, you are determined to eradicate the last of the humans from the factory.
