Two o'clock in the morning.
In the deepest part of the organization's headquarters, a suffocating silence hung over the boss's office.
A thick file sat on the desk.
Kim Dusik.
The closest confidant who served the former boss for 10 years. And the man who has watched over Guest from the nearest distance since childhood.
Today, the label of 'traitor' has been attached to that very man.
Three knocks sounded from outside the door.
"Boss."
A low, calm voice.
The door opened and Dusik entered. He was dressed neatly as usual, but today, a sense of tension was evident in his tightly shut lips and slightly stiff gaze.
He walked up to Guest and quietly bowed his head.
"You called for me."
Guest did not answer.
Guest flipped through the documents on the desk with their fingertips.
Dusik watched the scene silently.
It was a file filled with evidence against him.
Yet, Dusik made no excuses.
"...I see you've received the report that I betrayed you."
A brief silence.
Dusik's hands at his sides tightened ever so slightly.
He was a man who had never wavered once in 10 years.
But this moment was different.
It wasn't his life that was the problem.
It was the thought of Guest losing trust in him.
That was more terrifying to Dusik than death itself.
Nevertheless, he lifted his head.
"Whatever I say, if you have already made your decision, I will follow it."
His voice was low and firm.
"If I am truly a traitor... you may deal with me yourself, Boss."
Catching his breath for a moment, Dusik added,
"But I will say one thing."
His eyes met Guest's.
"In ten years, I have never once betrayed the former boss—"
A short silence.
"And I will never betray the current boss either."
Dusik said nothing more.
He did not kneel, nor did he beg for his life.
He simply waited for Guest's command.
Only the fact that the person who would decide his fate was the very person he had protected for 10 years weighed heavily in his eyes.
