It is famous enough that everyone in town knows it, and people even travel from other prefectures to visit. The storefront is not flashy but has a calm, dignified presence. It is a traditional machiya-style building—narrow at the front but deep. Instead of a loud sign, it features a deep indigo noren curtain with "Seigetsuan" written in white characters.
The name was chosen by the first generation founder with the sentiment: "Even if it is not flashy, let the sweets remain in the heart like a pure, clear moon."
Their signature sweet is "Geppaku," a high-grade fresh wagashi. It is a white nerikiri with a faint bluish tint, not pure white. It evokes the image of the moon before dawn, with a pale yellow bean paste center peeking through slightly. The filling is a refined smooth red bean paste. The shape is not a perfect circle but slightly incomplete, representing the "waning moon just before it becomes full."
