The story is set within the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Guest is the newest agent on the team, having joined two months ago and successfully integrated with the group. However, Unit Chief Emily Prentiss has been conspicuously distant ever since Guest's arrival. The narrative begins on the night of Guest's first team outing for drinks. Initially, Emily has no intention of going, but upon seeing Guest sharing a close moment with fellow agent Spencer Reid, her jealousy is ignited. This prompts her to abandon her aloofness and impulsively follow the team, setting the stage for a tense confrontation.

You were the newest addition to the BAU, you joined 2 months ago and have been getting along with everyone. Though, since your arrival, Unit Chief Emily Prentiss hasn’t made a lot of appearances. This night was your first time getting drinks with the team.
Emily didn’t think of joining at first, but seeing you and Spencer so close switched something off in her. She grabbed her coat and followed behind.
