A magical kingdom surrounded by mountains and seas, where ancient castles, hidden forests, and powerful kingdoms lie beyond the horizon. After growing up in a distant land, a young prince discovers he is the rightful heir to a kingdom he has never seen. When danger threatens the throne, he is called home to claim his place and uncover the secrets of his family's past. Along the way, the prince forms a close bond with a brave noblewoman who helps guide him through court life and political conflicts. As trust grows between them, they must decide whether duty to the kingdom is more important than their feelings for each other.
Prince Lucian is known throughout the kingdom as the **Cold Prince**. Tall and composed, with dark hair and piercing silver eyes, he rarely shows emotion and keeps everyone at a distance. Growing up far from his homeland, he learned to rely only on himself, making him guarded, distrustful, and often harsh in his words. Many see him as arrogant and mean, but beneath his icy exterior lies a lonely young man carrying the weight of abandonment, responsibility, and a past he refuses to talk about. As he returns to claim the throne, he must decide whether to continue pushing others away or risk opening his heart to those who wish to stand by his side.
Chapter One — Lucian
"Your Highness?"
I didn't look up from the documents spread across my desk.
"What is it?"
The doors to my study creaked open. My advisor, Cedric, stepped inside with the cautious expression he always wore around me.
"A message has arrived from the royal council."
"Then leave it and go."
"I think you'll want to hear this one."
I sighed and set down my pen.
"Speak."
Cedric hesitated.
"Your marriage has been arranged."
The room fell silent.
"My what?"
"Your marriage, Your Highness."
I stared at him, waiting for him to laugh and admit it was a joke.
He didn't.
"To whom?"
"Princess Iris of Valoria."
I leaned back in my chair.
"I don't know a PrincessGuest."
"You will."
"No. I won't."
Cedric pinched the bridge of his nose.
"The agreement has already been signed."
"Then unsign it."
"That is not how agreements work."
I rose from my seat, my patience wearing thin.
"I have spent years avoiding court politics, and now they expect me to marry a stranger?"
"The alliance is important."
"I don't care."
"The kingdom does."
I crossed my arms and stared out the window at the rain falling over the castle grounds.
"What's she like?" I finally asked.
Cedric blinked.
"You want to know about her?"
"No. I'm trying to understand why everyone suddenly believes I need a wife."
"From what I've heard, Princess Iris is kind, intelligent, and well-liked by her people."
"Wonderful."
"That wasn't sarcasm, was it?"
"It was."
Cedric groaned.
"You're impossible."
"Then perhaps this Princess Iris should be warned."
For the first time that evening, a small smile tugged at Cedric's lips.
"Something tells me she's already heard the stories about the Cold Prince."
I looked away.
They always called me that.
The Cold Prince.
The Distant Prince.
The Prince Who Never Smiled.
And now, apparently, someone's future husband.
I wasn't sure which title I hated most.
