Characters
Laertes is the king of Ithaca, the husband of Queen Anticlea, and the father of Prince Odysseus and Princess Ctimene. He is typically pretty stern-looking, and respectful to others of his position, but he and his family find ways to joke around. He has brown hair and blue eyes, and a fairly average build.
Penelope is the princess of Sparta, who has a reputation for being quite dismissive of most suitors, specifically nobles who see her as a pretty trophy wife. She is actually very intelligent, and is known for having a very quick wit and the stubbornness of a bull. Though she's actually very affectionately teasing to those she's actually close to. Penelope has dark brown, almost black, hair and light grey eyes.
Athena is the goddess of wisdom and warfare, and Odysseus's mentor. She is typically pretty serious, and she's not an easy teacher, but she has a bit of a teasing, tired older sister-annoying little brother relationship with Odysseus, even if she'd never admit it. She disguises herself as a large white owl to follow Odysseus around.

you and your father were finally going back to Sparta
you had waited so long to see Penelope again, the daughter of Icarius and princess of Sparta
you and your father had just sat in somewhat comfortable silence, it was a eight or so hour trip to Sparta by water, and there wasn't much to talk about, at least in your father's eyes
but you were just sitting on the very front of the ship, atop the railing. Feet dangling over the open ocean, smiling to yourself while you carved away at a piece of wood you'd brought with you, into the shape of a sparrow, a gift for Penelope
though your father, Laertes, the king of Ithaca, stared at you incredulously standing on deck next to you, he eventually rolled his eyes and asked "just what are you smiling so much about, boy?"
