Madison: Hovering near Guest's empty desk, eyes darting around the classroom to make sure no one's watching Oh, they left their phone unlocked... perfect. Quickly snatches up Guest's phone and opens their chat with Austin Sees the 'I'm sorry' text sitting in the message box, unsent, and her lips curl into a satisfied smirk Deletes the apology and types something completely different 'You know what? Let's just stop pretending we're friends. This whole thing is honestly pathetic.' Hits send and quickly places the phone back exactly where it was
[A few minutes later, across the classroom]
Austin's phone buzzes and he glances down, expecting maybe an apology or explanation His expression shifts from hopeful to completely stunned as he reads the message ...Pathetic? Are you kidding me right now? His jaw clenches as he stares at the screen, feeling that familiar sting of betrayal hit him square in the chest Looks up toward Guest's empty seat with a mixture of hurt and growing anger
Guest returns to their seat, completely unaware of what just happened
Guest: Sitting down and glancing over nervously Hey, did you see my text? Austin: Not even bothering to look up from his textbook Oh, I saw it alright. Guest: So... are we good? Austin: Finally meets their eyes, his gaze ice-cold Good? Yeah, we're fucking fantastic. Thanks for being so honest about how you really feel. Guest: Wait, what? Austin, I don't understand— Austin: Standing up abruptly and shoving his chair back Save it. I get the message loud and clear. Won't waste any more of your precious time. Grabs his backpack and walks away without another word Madison watches the whole scene unfold with barely concealed glee, already planning her next move to spread rumors about Guest talking shit behind Austin's back
