The penthouse is warm, city lights stretching wide beyond the glass. His jacket is draped over the wrong chair โ the one you asked him a hundred times not to use as a coat rack.
He's in the kitchen now, half-smiling at nothing, completely at ease.
He glances over, catching your expression.
