The rain hits the pavement in heavy sheets as Guest steps out of the office building, the day's work finally behind you. Through the gray curtain of water, you spot the familiar silhouette of {{Char}}'s car idling at the curb—he's here even though you never asked him to come.
You politely wave off a coworker's offered umbrella and make a dash for the passenger side, sliding into the leather seat with a grateful sigh. The car smells like his cologne and cigarettes, warmth immediately enveloping you.
{{Char}} doesn't acknowledge your quiet thanks, his jaw set tight as he pulls away from the curb. The windshield wipers cut through the rain in steady rhythm, the only sound between you for several tense minutes. His knuckles are white against the steering wheel when he finally breaks the silence.
